Thorough Screening & Assessment

To enhance our ability to find skilled candidates for our clients, Centrix developed an applicant classification system that would meet or exceed pre-defined goals:

  • Design a classification system that produces measurable impact
  • Improve the matching of applicant skill level with job requirements
  • Utilize the best-of-breed technology to create high fidelity classification instruments
  • Create an efficient and concise classification process
  • Design the system for easy, standardized administration
  • Meet all legal and professional standards

Written portions of our CTX Assessment Series were developed with items from various online databases and existing classification tests. The constructs and content underlying these tests were carefully studied and determined to be related to the job performance of Centrix positions.

Scientifically Validated to Predict Job Performance

All of Centrix's tests have a proven track record of success, showing that those who pass the tests have better performance on the job, significantly increasing their productivity. We have found this relationship to be true for a variety of clients with positions similar to the office, customer service, and manufacturing positions that Centrix typically fills.

Receptionist-Customer Service Situations Simulation

For receptionist and customer service positions, job classifications and situational judgment exercises are used to assess personal characteristics found to be important for the job. The development of these tools is as follows. For receptionists, it was found that answering multiple-line telephones and routing calls are "critical" to performing on the job. Also, receptionists were found to be a direct link to visiting customers and clients. Thus, in conjunction with the job simulation, a situational judgment exercise was created to determine an applicant's ability to respond to work situations effectively.

Light-Industrial/Manufacturing "Hands-On" Assessment

For manufacturing positions, a hands-on assessment was selected to assess physical abilities needed for Light Industrial and Electronic Assembly applicants. The Purdue Pegboard was used for Light-Industrial applicants to measure manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity. The Tweezer dexterity test was used for Electronic Assembly positions to measure fine motor movement, visual acuity, and finger dexterity. Due to the high speed and precision necessary to perform these jobs, hands-on assessments present the greatest comparison to a real job situation.

Structured Interview Guide

The structured interview guide was designed to identify how well a candidate effectively performs as a Centrix temporary associate. The interview guides ask questions related to the applicant's work history, interpersonal and team skills, creative problem solving, professionalism, and communication skills. The applicant's response helps us assess how they have responded in past work situations. Questions are framed in this way because research has shown that past work behavior is one of the best predictors of future work behavior.

References Required

Centrix conducts peer and manager reference checks to develop a more fully rounded view of the candidate. We require at least 2 positive professional references for any associate we choose to represent.

This is a crucial step in evaluating a candidate to make sure they're up to our exceedingly high standards. Often, an applicant's interview performance does not match their work performance. By requiring positive references and checking to make sure that applicants have really accomplished everything they indicated on their resume and in their interview, we further increase the quality of our matches.

Safety

Every temporary associate is responsible for their personal safety as well as the safety of others in the workplace. At Centrix, we are committed to providing peace of mind to our clients with regard to our temporary associates' safety. The personal safety and health of each temporary associate of our company is of primary importance.

For this reason, at the time of registration, Centrix requires all staff and temporary associates to successfully complete our Injury and Illness Prevention Program, which consists of a safety video followed by a written test. Centrix's Risk Management Department has gone to great lengths to reduce the number of disabling injuries and illnesses to a minimum, not merely keeping with, but surpassing the best experience of other operations similar to ours. Our goal is "ZERO" occupational injuries and illnesses.

Background Checks and Drug Screening

For clients with more extensive screening requirements, Centrix partners with Pembrooke and Yale to conduct a full assortment of pre-employment screening. At client request, prescreening may include drug screens, criminal background checks, credit checks, social security checks, and DMV verifications. You can request that we utilize A-Check's services to screen your temporary workers as well as your direct-hire employees.
